Q&A

Tell us about your career journey so far – what have been your most notable highlights?

I studied Logistics and started my career as a Logistics Graduate after finishing my Honours degree. I have operations experience as Transport Controller, Logistics Coordinator, Frontline Manager and Operations Manager, which include route planning, controlling inventory and supervising primary and secondary distribution operations, managing warehouse productivity targets as well as people management/staff development and customer service.

One of the highlights of my career was the special projects I was involved in such as the Racking project, Automated pallet transfer system project, Labour conversion project and Go-to-market project.

The operational environment is quite challenging and high-paced – tell us about some of your coping strategies to maintain optimal productivity.

My coping strategies include taking time to recharge as well as getting enough quality sleep to face what the day has in store for me. I also plan ahead by organising and prioritising my day. I set clear goals/tasks and separate it into tasks that can be done quickly and tasks that will require more time and focus.  I break down the task into manageable pieces, take action and ensure that the task is completed.

What are the qualities that you think set women apart in leadership?

Some of the qualities that I think set women apart in leadership includes being resilient, self-aware and being able to express empathy. Being a risk taker and not being afraid to step out of your comfort zone will also set you apart as a leader. Leaders that have the ability to empower others, increase productivity.

What inspires you most to keep going despite the challenges of being a young woman.

What inspires me is reading about individuals who became successful while facing all sorts of challenges. It motivates me to keep working and giving my best in everything I do. I enjoy taking on new challenges/trying new things and stepping out of my comfort zone.
